چکیده

Abstract. For intermediate Coulomb energy to Fermi energy ratios rs, spinless fermions in a two-dimensional random potential form a new quantum phase, different from the Fermi glass (weakly interacting Anderson localized states) and the Wigner crystal (regular array of charges pinned by the disorder). The intermediate phase is characterized by an ordered flow of persistent currents with a typical value decreasing with excitation energy. Extending finite size scaling analysis to the many body ground state, we find that electron-electron interactions can drive the Fermi glass towards an intermediate metallic phase (Coulomb metal).

Delocalized Coulomb Phase in Two Dimensions

– Extending finite size scaling theory to the many body ground state, one finds that Coulomb repulsion can drive a system of spinless fermions in a random potential from the Anderson insulator (Fermi glass of localized states) towards a new extended phase in dimension d = 2. The transition occurs at a Coulomb energy to Fermi energy ratio rs ≈ 4, where a change in the nature of the persistent cu...

Hartree-Fock ground state phase diagram of jellium.

We calculate the ground state phase diagram of the homogeneous electron gas in three dimensions within the Hartree-Fock approximation and show that broken symmetry states are energetically favored at any density against the homogeneous Fermi gas state with isotropic Fermi surface. At high density, we find metallic spin-unpolarized solutions where electronic charge and spin density form an incom...

Pressure effects on Ca60Al40 metallic glass superconductors

Theoretical computation of the pressure dependence superconducting state parameters of binary Ca60Al40 is reported using model potential formalism. Explicit expressions have been derived for the volume dependence of the electron–phonon coupling strength λ and the Coulomb pseudopotential μ* considering the variation of Fermi momentum KF and Debye temperature ӨD with volume. Well known Ashcroft’s...

Signatures of an intermediate 2 d Coulomb phase at low temperatures

– The study of the ground state of spinless fermions in 2d disordered clusters (Phys. Rev. Lett. 83, 1826 (1999)) has suggested the existence of a new quantum phase for intermediate Coulomb energy to kinetic energy ratios rs. We show that its low energy excitations (quantum ergodicity above a few “hexatic” excitations characterized by oriented currents) significantly differ from those occuring ...

Disordered Quantum Solids

Due to the peculiar non-fermi liquid of one dimensional systems, disorder has particularly strong effects. We show that such systems belong to the more general class of disordered quantum solids. We discuss the physics of such disordered interacting systems and the methods that allows to treat them. In addition to, by now standard renormalization group methods, We explain how a simple variation...
